Cumbria Accommodation Booking Service
Who are we?
In May 2006, Cumbria Tourist Board, as it was then, set up its own accommodation booking service to help both businesses and tourists, following the closure of some Tourist Information Centres. Now working from Cumbria Tourism's new offices in Staveley, we strive to operate a highly professional service and have received much positive feedback and repeat business.

Many customers come to us via the golakes website, turning to us because their needs are complex or they are on the last minute so our requests can be challenging – we greatly appreciate your help with these bookings. How does it work?
We use the DMS system to search for accommodation to match the customer's requirements. We charge a £3 service fee and a 10% commission is taken from the customer on booking; this is deducted from the final bill by the establishment. An email confirmation that includes a breakdown of the payment is sent to both parties. We always ask the customer's permission to pass on card details to the accommodation provider to secure the booking or for a deposit to be taken.
How can you benefit?
To receive bookings, you need to register free of charge on the DMS. You can then choose whether to update your availability online, by telephone or by fax. If you have an entry on the golakes website, you will already be on the DMS. Establishments who update regularly are far more likely to receive bookings. The type of enquiry we receive varies from serviced to all kinds of self catering including lodges, caravan sites, youth hostels and bunk barns. Thank you for taking the time to update and also for passing on our number when you are fully booked. If you are not an accommodation business, you might still help visitors by passing on our number.
